Brenda Johnson (Hyde)

Brenda Kay Hyde, 73, of Jonesboro passed from this life on Thursday, October 12, 2017 at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House. She was born to the late O.C. and Ruby Johnson on Septmber 24, 1944 in Cash, Arkansas. In addition to her parents, Brenda is preceded in death by her sister, Shirley Powell.

Brenda graduated from Jonesboro High School in 1962 and earned her Bachelor of Science in Education and her Masters at Arkansas State University. She began her teaching career in Marked Tree and taught there for 10 years. Brenda then moved to Paragould and taught in the Paragould School system for nearly 30 years. After retirement, she was a substitute teacher for Jonesboro High School

Brenda was a member of Valley View Church of Christ where she was part of the Women's Bible Class. She was also a member of the Paragould Retired Teachers Association and a member of the JHS Birthday Club. Brenda was an educator for many years, but she was also a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt and grandmother and will be greatly missed.

Brenda is survived by her husband of 49 years, Dairl Hyde of the home; sons, Brad Hyde of Jonesboro and Bart Hyde of Paragould; sister, Cathy Calhoun (Warner) of Jonesboro; grandchildren, Bailey Hyde and Abbie Kay Hyde.

The visitation will be on Sunday evening from 6 pm to 8 pm.

A funeral service will be held at 10 am on Monday, October 16, 2017 at Emerson Funeral Home with Gary Cremeens and Spencer Furby officiating. Burial will follow at Finch Cemetery near Paragould with the active pallbearers being Mark Johnson, Buck Beasley, Bailey Hyde, Logan Bingham, Stan Lewis, and Clarence Barnes. The honorary pallbearers will be Donna Dillon, Michael Meredith, Mary Ann Washington, Teresa Rowe, Barbara Gray, Bobbie Stallings, Pat Steel, Drake Merritt, JHS Clas of '62 Birthday Club, and the Valley View Church of Christ Lady's Bible Class.

I am so sorry to hear of Brenda’s passing. I remember her fondly from our days at JHS.My deepest condolences to her family. I know you have dear memories. May they comfort you.

I remember Brenda, fondly, and missed her presence at the Reunion.  While I am sad that she is gone, I am glad that she is relieved of her suffering.  My hope is that you Birthday Girls surround each other and her family with love, Ann Gwin

I always loved Brenda's enthusiasm and her infectious laughter!!  She always made everything fun for all of us!!  I loved hearing all the sweet stories from her son at the funeral and all the laughter which we all needed and is what she would have wanted!!  Keep telling your stories in Heaven, Brenda!!  I know God and all the angels will love them!!!  Praying for comfort for your family at this difficult time!!  Love you, Sharon
