Oscar J. (Buddy) Melton Jr., 78, passed away peacefully at Flo & Phil Jone Hopsice House Saturday, February 5, 2022.
Mr. Melton was born November 14, 1943, in Jonesboro. He was the former owner of Melton Brothers, Inc., a John Deere equipment dealership. He graduated from the University of Arkansas with a degree in business administration. Mr. Melton was a faithful member of the First United Methodist Church.
He ws preceded in death by his parents, Oscar J. Melton, Sr. and Catherine Dietrich Melton and a sister, Mary Jane Melton Martin.
He is survived by a son, Oscar J. Melton III and three grandchildren, Olivia Rose Melton, Arabella Parks Melton and Oscar J. Melton IV.
Graveside service will be 2:00 PM on Wednesday, February 9, 2022, at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery with Rev. John Miles II, Pastor at Firsst United Methodist Church officiating. Services were entrusted to Gregg-Langford-Bookout Funeral Home.
There will be no visitation.
In lieu of flowers consider a memorial gift to St. Bernard's Development Foundation, First United Methodist Church or Craighead County Community Foundation.

Buddy and I grew up together in the same Neighborhood and played a lot of touch football growing up. Buddy had a good sense of humor and was a loyal friend. May you rest in Peace my friend It was a honor to have known you.
