Don was a great friend, and the last one I visited before going to Viet Nam.  He went to V.N. six months later and was killed in his first pilot rescue in 1970; three weeks after his arrival.    Paul Stephens

I remember him well too, although I was at Jonesboro High for only our senior year.  I also remember and was impreseed that his parents came to several of our class reunions representing him.  Ann Griner

According to "The Vietnam Veterans Memorial", Capt George Don Henry, Jr. crashed and died at sea off the coast of Thailand, due to Hostile Fire, August 13, 1970. His body was recovered. The Memorial also has Don flying fixed wing, but I understood that it was Helicopters to rescue downed Pilots and Flight Crew.

One of the reasons no one knew when he died, was that the Vietnam Veterans Memorial had Don as being from Jonesboro, AK (Alaska). There is no Jonesboro AK (Alaska), AL (Alabama) OR AZ (Arizona) in the United States, only AR (Arkansas). Another reason might be that most did not remember that Don was a Jr., his father was known as George, thus we knew him as Don.

Thank you, John, for reminding us of our great classmate, Don Henry. He is still one of the members of our class that I think of often.  I had never seen any report of his death incident, when he went to VN, what his rank was, none of it.  Thanks for the information.  Ann Griner Duckworth
